Group One, Day Two--An All Time Extravaganza Record!!

Get this, gang—Day Two of Group One’s E-16 adventure saw the eight launched boats, even with one boat on the upper Bitterroot getting all but shut out, catching and releasing over 310 healthy western Montanan fish, the vast majority of which were rainbows and cuttbows caught on the now fully recovered Clark Fork of the Columbia River.

Chris “Cock of the Walk” Barger was the leader of the fish catchers with over 60 fish landed on his own, saying “and I only caught half of the fish that I had on the line”, noting also that multiple doubles were accompanied with his literally launching himself out of his boat—a(nother) Extravaganza rarity.

Let’s see here, 310+ fish in one day spread among 8 boats (7 really) is almost 40 fish per boat in one day and an average of 20 fish per fisherman (when that number is usually regarded as an acceptable boat number)!! Right behind Cock(y) was my fishing partner Brian “Moraine” Shepard who landed north of 40 fish on his own, including a Group leading 22” Clark Fork cuttbow, which was matched by his daughter-son combination witnessing daughter “Beautiful Eliza” notching a 20” Clark Fork rainbow along with bro Nicholas “The Tsar” matching with his own 20” bow!

So bow down to Dem Ones for an exceptional day of fishing—I am headed to Hooters right now to see what their third, this time rainy, day has to bring forth!!

Best to all from the emerging scene of it all,

Rock Creek Ron
