Well, after a two day delay (thank goodness for my building in a buffer time the week before each Extravaganza, about the time you were thinking ab out stirring (yes, even those of you on the East Coast), Ma’am (your black lab E-16 mascot) and I were [finally!!] rolling down Headquarters’ driveway after a 19 hour 1,150 mile drive to begin our stay here in Extravaganzaland. And, wow, as the attached photos depict, our first class ground crew of Peanut, Larry, his brother “Seattle Ed” in from Las Vegas (you should have seen all of the Seahawks gear that he had on, Group Two Hawker Seattle’s Brad “Maven” Miller—ya woulda been proud!) and landscaper Eric Nystrom (shown above watering his gaggle of newly planted flowers) have this place shaped up like you wouldn’t believe. We are literally out in the middle of nowhere here, gang, and, each year, I am pleasantly surprised/stunned what Eric has done to make this wonderful place the botanical display that it is.
Weather-wise, it is a hot time in the old town today, with temps in the high 80’s and schedule to taper off come the arrival of Dem Ones this Saturday. I will get a more up to date fishing report which I will relay to you tomorrow, but, simply stated, I sure like what I saw the last 60 miles of my drive, to wit: a robustly flowing, turbidity-clear Upper Clark Fork River—namely, a river in perfect fishing condition…bueno, bueno, bueno!!
You Ones are to now-recheck your Camp List (which can be located on Der Blog for you missing same) as in just four (count ‘em) days from now you will have already arrived and otherwise just figured out what you have failed to pack! Same goes for you Tattoos and Threes—the Extravaganza is in all of your immediate futures, and that ‘tis a beautiful thing!!
More to follow from Headquarters as we now gear up in earnest for Opening Day!!
Best to all from the scene of it all,
Rock Creek Ron
