Well, the lower section of the Clark Fork of the Columbia River continues to produce E-16 fish in epic quantities, witness the SS Rodgers where, on Father's Day, papa "Squawfish Tim" and daughter "C.T. Mardi" (the latter shown above both signing in onto the Twenty Inch Board and boasting her [annual] Yellow Hat) landed upwards of seventy (count 'em) healthy Montana pectoral specimens, followed closely on the heels by Adam "Iron Man" Eichorn signing onto the Twenty Inch board with his 20" Clark Fork Cuttbow, as witnessed first hand by fishing partner Joe "Compari" Ciatti with their combined 26 fish haul!
And the fish bounty was not limited just to veterans or the Clark Fork, as rookie boat Mary Van Kerrebrook with son Bob on their very first day ever of fly fishing landed 30 fish on the lower Blackfoot River, with Bob proudly boasting that of those all but three was his, the largest being a gorgeous 18" rainbow. In fact, every boat of ours landed the better part 20 fish on Day One, with the SS Baylacq father-son combo cruising the lower Clark Fork and topping out with a 17 incher (as well as picking up the Hooters bar tab by being the last boat in); the father-son tag team of Brad "Maven" and Jack "Son of Maven" Miller spanking 28 (mostly smaller) fish on the lower Blackfoot River; Greg "Goodliving" Livengood along with college pal Stewart "Tarmac" Marlborough matching the Baylacqs in their bounty; father-son combo of Jerry "The Juice" and Tony "No Neck" Pantaleo having the same results on the upper Clark Fork above Missoula along with Gary "Big Cheese" Edwards and "Montana Tim" Foster along that same stretch of this E-16 rock star river!!
Congrats to Mardi for her 20" bow and to Adam for his 20" cutthroat—you two lead the pack as we go into Day Two of Group Two—the halfway marker of Extravaganza 2016!!
Best to all from the scene of it all,
Rock Creek Ron
